Oggi ci siamo presi un pò di tempo per leggere i commenti degli ospiti. Siamo davvero lusingati.
Ma cosa faremmo in questa valle senza di voi? Approfittiamo quindi di questo spazio per rigraziarvi e per una volta ci permettiamo anche noi di esprimere un giudizio su di voi. Cinque stelle e se fosse possibile anche più.

Nell'incantevole cornice umbra si incastona alla perfezione questo luogo dove il tempo si dilata e l'accoglienza di Sylvia e Giampaolo fa sentire a casa, amici da sempre. Ci si ripromette di tornare quando si osserva il panorama  e si assapora la quiete e la bellezza del paesaggio circostante.
Facilmente raggiungibili i molteplici luoghi da visitare, gli eventi musicali, culturali di cui l'umbria è sempre ricca questo posto permette di raggiungerli agevolmente e di tornare per assaporare la serenità e il relax di questo posto. I prodotti di Sylvia e Giampaolo sono ottimi e la loro ospitlità veramente eccellente.

Prachtige rustige locatie, fijn appartement (Pietra Antica), Sylvia en Giampaolo zijn bijzonder hartelijk en gastvrij, een plek om terug te keren!

Un luogo dove il tempo scorre fluido e silente.
Dove potersi rilassare con la famiglia.
L'ospitalità amica di Sylvia e Giampaolo, mettono a proprio agio.
La centralità del luogo rispetto alla regione, permette di visitare agevolmente molti luoghi come Orvieto, Spoleto, Todi, Terni, Norcia, Perugia, Assisi, Gubbio, Castiglione del Lago, e alla sere si ritorna nell'abbraccio tranquillo del Borgo.
Un tuffo in piscina, una partita al ping-pong, il tiro con l'arco, un buon libro completano la cornice.
Una vacanza rigenerante consigliata a tutti !!!

Het was even zoeken, maar toen we er eenmaal waren, duurde het niet lang of we begrepen waarom vrienden ons dit adres hadden aanbevolen. Een volle week hebben we ons gelaafd aan de locatie, de schoonheid van de omgeving, de volmaakte rust en het fantastische zwembad. Sylvia en Giampaolo zien ons zeker terug!

Afgelopen augustus hebben wij twee heerlijke weken doorgebracht in Borgo Poggiolo. Een prachtige, rustige omgeving om te fietsen, te wandelen, maar vooral ook om uit te rusten. Voor de afwisseling liggen er vele mooie dorpjes en steden in de omgeving die je kan bezoeken. En dan kan je ook nog heerlijk eten bij Sylvia en Gaimpaolo. Tot de volgende keer! Jurre en Zoë

Hallo Sylvia en Giampaolo , onze hele familie heeft genoten van de vakantie op Borgo Poggiolo begin juli 2011. Het is écht fantastisch wat jullie daar hebben gerealiseerd in the middle of nowhere . Wij hebben genoten van de rust , de mooie omgeving en het schitterende weer. En we hebben natuurlijk alle mogelijke stadjes in de buurt als Orvieto , Assisi , Todi , Citta de la Pieve bezocht , en ook het citytrip dagje Rome vonden onze 3 dochters fantastisch . We zijn vast van plan jullie adresje aan vrienden aan te raden ( en dat hebben we ondertussen reeds gedaan) . Het appartement Terraza was super qua comfort , ruimte en fantastisch terras . je kon er ook pingpongen en darten.

Ik vond het heel leuk hier!!!
Als ik wakker werd en het raam open deed zag ik de op komende zon, en de bergen.
Het ontbijt en het dine waren ook elke dag verrukkelijk!!!
Giampaolo en Sylvia verrasten me elke keer weer met hun lekkere kookkunsten.

En gelukkig was er een lekker zwembad om lekker in af te koelen.
Een leuke jeudeboules baan.
Ook kon je mooie stadjes bezoeken zoals Orvieto,Perugia of Assisi.

Un ringraziamento di cuore  a Giampaolo e Sylvia per la loro disponibilità e, per la bellissima azienda agricola Borgo Poggiolo che curano con vera passione e  immersa nella natura dell'Umbria.
Il ricordo più bello della nostra settimana di vacanza che abbiamo trascorso, è sicuramente il fatto che abbiamo trovato la natura incontaminata e la pace.
Un consiglio che posso dare ai lettori di questo libro degli ospiti, per chi vuole fare una vacanza diversa dalle altre e di prenotare subito.

Het is inmiddels al weer 2 weken gelden dat we heerlijk zaten te genieten in Borgo Poggiolo van ons heerlijke appartement en omgeving. We hebben genoten van de rust, de natuur, gezellige stadjes en natuurlijk van het heerlijke eten. Een ideale omgeving om te relaxen en weer op te laden voor het drukke leven in Nederland. We willen nog als tip meegeven aan anderen, dat het ideal is om het verblijf in Borgo Poggiolo te combineren met een trip naar Rome. Wij zijn 5 dagen naar Rome geweest en 5 dagen naar Borgo Poggiolo (dit had overigens wel wat langer gemogen).
Giampaolo en Sylvia bedankt voor jullie gastvrijheid en komen zeker weer!

Ciao Giampaolo ed Sylvia ebilisima Borgo Poggiolo. It was a great stay! Great Apartment Terazza, wonderfull garden. Great REAL swimming pool (almost 20 meters!) good food and wonderfull hosts! The Yoga of Laura Corsi on the grass at 7.30 was an amazing start of the day! No mobile phones was an extra attraction: quiet meals without I-phones and Blackberries, just image! Dear Sylvia and Giampaolo, Sorry for not having written sooner, it is hard to believe that it is nearly three weeks since we stayed at Borgo Poggiolo, it already feels too long ago! We would just like to take the opportunity to thank-you both so much for our fantastic stay in your beautiful property. You are lucky people to live in such a wonderful part of the world. As you know we stayed in Arco, which was a truly delightful retreat from the craziness of living in London, we really felt that it was "our" place - with sunlight in the morning and a view of stunning sunsets from the bed in the evening, it was perfect. Borgo Poggiolo itself was great and we loved being able to eat outside in the beautiful garden (sometimes enjoying freshly picked cherries from the tree) drinking fine wine, whilst listening to nothing but bird-song and the sunshine - it was true decadence! In fact, we recorded the bird-song and listen to it here to recapture some of those relaxing feelings. The pool was great and surprisingly warm, given that it was May. Finally thanks for your warm welcome - it was a pleasure to meet you both and we felt well looked after. We have already started to plan our return with some good friends of ours in one of the larger appartments, but will definitely look forward to staying in Arco again as well. Tanti auguri! We hebben al op veel plekken in Europa vakantie gevierd. Maar borgo Porgiollo spant wat ons betreft de kroon! Een droomplek om heerlijk tot rust te komen met een wijntje en een goed boek. Of om als uitvalsbasis te dienen voor zwerftochten naar prachtige dorpen en stadjes. En als je dan 's avonds moe thuiskomt, kronkel je je op de bank, starend naar de vlammen van het knapperende haardvuur. Een beetje 'villa Felderhof-gevoel' met een heleboel authentieks. We waren er in de eerste week van mei en de natuur was overweldigend: overal orchideen, bloeiende kamperfoelie, helleborus, vogels, torren en kevers in alle soorten en maten, grote nachtpauwvlinder, everzwijn met kleintjes, geurende kruiden en ga zo maar door. Kom je met kinderen dan is een bezoek aan het vulcaanmuseum in San Venanzo de moeite waard. Wij kregen er een prive-rondleiding en weten nu alles over vulcanen! Sylvia en Giampaolo, nogmaals erg bedankt voor het prettige verblijf.

We had a wonderful time at Borgo Poggiolo.  The fireplace was much appreciated since it was cold and rainy, but the views are still spectacular and it was convenient to a lot of the sights we wanted to see...Orvieto, Assisi, Deruta, Todi, Citta de Pieve, and some beautiful little villages too numerous to mention.  Paradise for a painter.  Thank you for your kind hospitality!

Hoi Sylvia en Giampaolo, Het is vandaag tweede kerstdag, en we hebben net overheerlijke speltsoep en semi-freddo op, maar we zijn de ontwenningsverschijnselen nog niet helemaal te boven... Noortje klaagt nog bijna dagelijks dat ze terug wil, al was het maar om bedden op te maken en jou te helpen in de keuken. De heerlijke recepten en de duivel van Poggiolo vonden gretig aftrek bij de kookclub en we maken de soep met enige regelmaat met veel plezier. Het blijft natuurlijk maar een nabootsing van het origineel, maar elke keer als we hem eten zijn we in gedachte weer bij jullie op het terras. Inmiddels heb ik Noortje op 10 oktober jl. om 10 minuten over 10 ten huwelijk gevraagd en zei gelukkig volmondig JA!. De honeymoon zal waarschijnlijk niet naar Italie gaan, maar als we volgend jaar ergens aan het eind van de zomer nog een weekje kunnen missen dan komen we heel graag nog een weekje genieten van de heerlijke verse vijgen (die in Italie toch echt veel smakelijker zijn, dan hier in Nederland bij de groetenboer). Begin augustus hebben we genoten van een heerlijke week op Borgo Poggiolo. Het was onze eerste kennismaking met Umbrië en met de hartelijke en gastvrije eigenaren, Giampaolo en Sylvia. Onze verwachtingen van de accommodatie n.a.v. de informatie op internet, kwamen helemaal uit. Zelfs méér dan dat. Prachtig gelegen, sfeervol appartement, schoon, rust, af en toe 'n heerlijke (én gezellige)Italiaanse maaltijd met de mede-gasten.
Absoluut een plek om nog eens terug te komen!

"Paradise in the middle of nowhere"

The Borgo Poggiolo is a great place! In the middle of nowhere you find great landscape, room and nice people for your vacation.
The apartment you may want to live - it so spacious, airy and will provide a lot of different qualities of rooms also for two parties.
The interior and facilities are individual decorated as it would be yours...
The pool is great to cool down.
Pornello is in the nowhere but in the middle of it - in this respect it is easy to visit Umbria's towns and sights. Also I went running in the Umbrian hills every day and felt like an pioneer...
I hope to be back and can recommend this apartment for all those who sense pure quality.

Wij hebben al 3 keer een deel van onze vakantie doorgebracht op Borgo Poggiolo, dat zegt genoeg!!Voor ons is het een paradijs! Schitterende natuur, rust, maar ook prachtige steden in de omgeving. Het is ook heerlijk om "bij huis"te blijven en te genieten van het zwembad,de zonsondergangen,de hond, de jonge poezen en in de avond de vele vuurvliegjes. Sylvia en Giampaolo blinken uit in hartelijkheid en gastvrijheid en regelmatig word je verwend met iets lekkers uit eigen tuin of een vers eitje!
Kortom: een plek om terug te keren!

We hebben 8 dagen gelogeerd in app. Panorama. We hebben erg genoten van de stilte , het mooie uitzicht en de gastvrijheid van Sylvia en haar man. Het landgoed ligt in en prachtige omgeving waar Huub ook prima heeft kunnen race-fietsen,Kortom een plek om nog eens terug te keren.

E stato buonissimo! My Mom and I had a wonderful time. The house was simply but stylishly furnished and had everything we needed. The views were fantastic and the surrounding countryside bursting with wild flowers, butterflies and bugs, sooooo tranquil and relaxing. Laid back hosts Sylvia and Gianpaolo were very sweet and helpful. And I loved Toto the dog who graciously tagged along on my morning walks up the camino bianco every morning. Thank you, Sylvia and Giampaolo! We will never forget it.

We hebben een fantastische tijd gehad. Samen met mijn man en dochtertje (1,5 jaar) hebben wij 10 dagen genoten op Borgo Poggiolo. Het appartement was mooi, schoon en groot, het weer heerlijk en het eten bijzonder lekker. Zeker een vakantieadres waar wij in de toekomst nog eens langs willen gaan.

The homepage describes in detail the property and the location plan. The holiday flats are always clean and provided with bed-linen, towels and tableware. The free use of the washing machine is an additional advantage and the owners are almost every day at Borgo Poggiolo and always ready to give helpful pieces of advices for trips and places of interest.

Borgo Poggiolo is encircled by an oak forest which invites us often to go for a run. The large garden around the house building offers for every guest a lot of room, calmness and an amazing panoramic view to the surrounding green hills. Many shadowy parking areas are available. Last but not least we have to make mention of the perfectly situated swimming pool.

Many historic cities in Umbria (such as Assisi, Orvieto, Perugia), Tuscany (e.g. Arezzo, Montepulciano, Siena) and even Latium (Rome, Viterbo) are destinations for a day-trip by car. But this is not all endless smaller towns and lakes are waiting to be discovered and well worth seeing (Pienza, Civita di Bagnoregio, Lago Bolsena).

We would recommend this property to a friend who likes silence and wants to arrange the holiday activities according to his own tastes.

My partner and I have been going to Borgo Poggiolo regularly for 10 years now and have always found it to be the perfect oasis of peace and quiet, the property being wonderfully situated amongst the rolling hills of the Umbrian countryside.  The accommodation, which is rustic and modest, is extremely comfortable and completely appropriate to its very rural setting.  We love the extensive grounds and the feeling of being away from the usual tourist areas, although Orvieto, Assisi, Perugia and Todi and nearby, mostly less than an hour's drive.  Furthermore, boasting the luxury of such a wonderful swimming pool, with panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, makes lazing around, sunning yourself, and eating and drinking a most delightful temptation; one which we have giving into willingly on many occasions!
Borgo Poggiolo offers a good selection of different-sized apartments and rooms which suit anyone from the single traveller to large groups and, over the years, we have stayed in most of the accommodation and can highly recommend it!
Moreoever, the hospitality of the owners, Giampaolo and Sylvia is exceptional in that they are able to combine a relaxed and friendly manner, with a business-like efficiency and attention to detail.  Although this property is basically self-catering, Borgo Poggiolo also offers catering (although this needs to be ordered in advance) and is to be highly recommended.  The joy of sitting down and having four courses of local Umbrian cuisine brought to you without even having to choose from a menu is always a delight; whether it be home-made boar stew, pizzette or deliciously creamy home-made panna cotta.
I have stayed at Borgo Poggiolo with just my partner, with a small group of friends and, as we did this summer, taking over the whole place with a group of 20, and this magical place has always provided us with just what we needed, however many of us that there were.I would highly recommend Borgo Poggiolo to anyone, indeed, I have done so, and many of my friends and family have, like us, completely fallen in love with our hide-away in the 'cuore verde' (the green heart) of Italy.
 

A most enjoyable week with our 2 children. The pool is lovely and one of the very few fenced pools we could find making it safer for those with young children.

Charming and helpful hosts and our apartment had everything we could want with nice little touches. The home made bread sylvie delivered one night as a surprise was wonderful. The meals we had at borgo poggiolo were very good although it was also easy to cook for ourselves.

The countryside is beautiful and the remote location of borgo poggiolo made it very relaxing - but with all the sights we wanted to visit still not far away - Orvieto only 35kms and some beautiful hill towns even closer at hand.

Would highly recommend to anyone with young kids."

Sylvia and Giampaolo are fantastic hosts, and the place is a dream - beautiful, quiet and relaxing. We had the pleasure of sampling some delicious home-made jam and bread. We stayed there twice and had a great time. We highly recommend Borgo Poggiolo!

Sylvia e Giampaolo sono ospiti fantastici, e il posto è un sogno: bello, tranquillo e rilassante. Abbiamo avuto il piacere di assaggiare marmellata e pane fatti in casa. Da leccarsi i baffi. Siamo stati ospiti a Borgo Poggiolo due volte e ci siamo trovati benissimo. Lo raccomandiamo caldamente!

One day you will be picking fresh figs in the garden admiring the view over the lovely Umbrian hills: the next, you will be in awe of the great cultural heritage of towns like Assissi, Gubbio, Orvieto...   Borgo Poggiolo offers something for everyone - beautifully restored rooms and apartments have everything you need and more, the gardens and views are wonderful, the pool fantastic. Cook yourself or let Sylvia and Giampaolo spoil you with typical local cuisine. Whatever you decide, Borgo Poggiolo is a gem of a place: you'll want to tell your friends about it, but you are more likely to keep it a secret for yourself!  Utterly recommended - a real piece of Italy run with warmth and professionalism that will tempt you back and back. It has us.

Sylvia & Giampaolo have created something truly exquisite at Borgo Poggiolo. Superbly restored, the accommodation is extremely comfortable and beautifully decorated - we were at home there within moments, and will be regular returning guests, starting again this summer. The natural beauty of the area, the access to great art and architecture, and the ability to sprawl by the pool one day tour the area the next makes for a most remarkable holiday. Add to this Sylvia's fabulous local cuisine and Giampaolo's wine cellar and home made liqueuers all served under the stars, and you can't go wrong. We can not recommend Borgo Poggiolo enough - go there!

Borgopoggiolo was voor ons 'the closest thing to paradise'. Een echte aanrader dus. Prachtig gelegen in het heuvellandschap van Umbrie. Goede faciliteiten waaronder een prachtig zwembad. Sfeervol appartement. En veel te zien in de omgeving (Perugia, Orvieto etc...). En last but not least: de gastvrije ontvangst van Sylvia en Giampaolo, die niets hebben nagelaten om het ons naar de zin te maken. Wij komen zeker nog een keer terug! Wat een prachtige website, Tommi! Ook wij willen graag jullie gastenboek opfleuren want aan een ieder die het wil horen blijven wij zeggen dat het bij jullie het mooist, rustigst en gezelligst is! Zo ieder 2, 3 jaar gaan wij naar deze heerlijke plek en iedere keer genieten wij met volle teugen.

Wij voelen ons thuis bij jullie en jullie hebben een speciaal plekje in onze harten! Wij komen weer, wees daar van overtuigd!

For many years now, we're spending our holidays in appartments, guesthomes, agriturismo's and chambres d'hotes in Italy, France and Spain. So (in all modesty) we may say we have seen a lot of adresses. For us there's still one we love most, we love to visit again when we're in Italy... and that's the one at this website...

It gives us all we are looking for during our holidays: rest and peace in a beautiful landscape... only the singing of birds and  cigales... the view of Umbrien landscape with a half-hidden village at the opposite hillside... a lot of (well known and unknown) places to visit ... or simply staying at the poolside ... in short: the idea of living as God in Italy (instead of France) with all it has to give (climat, food, wines). And as a special gift: the friendly hospitalaty of Giampaolo and Sylvia.

Of course, we are still visiting France and Spain and other beautifull countries all over the world. But when we can ...

Zojuist hebben wij gereserveerd voor het elfde (of is het al het twaalfde?) verblijf in Borgo Poggiolo sedert 1998.
Eigenlijk zegt dat al genoeg, maar voor wie het nog niet duidelijk mocht zijn: Als je zoekt naar een vakantiebestemming in een schitterende natuur, fantastisch gelegen en bij mensen, die je al na één bezoek (laat staan na tien) als oude vrienden beschouwt, dan is Borgo Poggiolo van Giampaolo en Sylvia een absolute aanrader!
De zalige rust ('avonds alleen het geluid van de krekels en een enkele nachtegaal)en hun onovertroffen gastvrijheid krijg je er gratis bij. En dan hebben we het nog niet over de heerlijke maaltijden die ook nog tot de mogelijkheden behoren. Het lijkt me wel duidelijk: als het aan ons ligt halen we de twintig (of nog meer...) ook wel!

Een echte aanrader! Een heerlijke vakantie gehad. Als je absolute rust zoekt in een mooie omgeving, dan is dit de perfecte plek! Ohja, elke avond uitmuntend en zeer uitgebreid gegeten. Wij komen zeker nog een keer langs. Syliva en Jeanpaulo (schrijf ik dat goed?) en Tommi, hartelijk dan voor de fijne weken.
